Job Summary and Qualifications

Respiratory Therapy involves the assessment and treatment of patients experiencing both acute and chronic issues related to the cardiopulmonary system. Today's Respiratory Therapists carry significant responsibilities in patient care and are integral members of the healthcare team. A comprehensive understanding of the cardiopulmonary system's pathophysiology and the complex procedures necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the RT Supervisor or Team Leader, you will conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as ordered by a physician.
  • Your responsibilities will include administering medical gases, providing aerosol therapy, obtaining and analyzing blood samples, conducting patient tests, operating and maintaining various respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment, delivering mechanical ventilation, managing artificial airways, assisting in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, educating patients, and monitoring both equipment and patient responses to therapy.
  • Additional duties will involve documenting inpatient and departmental records, cleaning equipment, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current Respiratory Therapist license from the State Board for Respiratory Care.
  • NBRC CRT certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification to be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • NRP certification within six months of hire.
  • Preferred: One year of recent clinical experience.
