Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer/Health Physicist to join our team at the United States Fleet Forces Command. As a key member of our Laboratory and Environmental Sciences Branch, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and health of our personnel and the public.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and administer the Health Physics instrumentation program, including establishing program goals and objectives, and monitoring progress.
  • Establish parameters for types of instrumentation required, determine required analysis capabilities, and design instrumentation configurations.
  • Conduct evaluation and analysis of instrumentation currently in use, identify problem areas, and recommend changes where appropriate.
  • Perform quality assurance assessments to document the accuracy of instrumentation results and investigate unexpected results.
Requirements
  • GS-11: At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • GS-09: At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Qualifications
  • GS-11: Experience developing, planning, organizing, and preparing project designs and protocols for research and development work on methods, techniques, work processes, equipment, and instrumentation assuring compliance with existing regulations.
  • GS-09: Experience developing, planning, organizing, and preparing project designs and protocols for research and development work on methods, techniques, work processes, equipment, and instrumentation assuring compliance with existing regulations.
Education

For 0840: A degree in engineering from an accredited school or a combination of education and experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering.

For 1306: A degree in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus, or a combination of education and experience that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics.
