Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical and administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and other medical personnel in providing patient care, preparing patients for procedures and examinations, and recording vital patient data.
  • Perform clinical duties, such as phlebotomy, patient specimen collection, and specimen processing, under the direct supervision of nursing personnel.
  • Provide administrative support, including greeting and directing patients, scheduling appointments, and handling phone calls and messages.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent experience preferred.
  • One year of full-time experience in a healthcare setting, or completion of a medical assistant program, is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification or equivalent required.
