The Lead Electrical Assembly Technician plays a pivotal role in supporting the Production Supervisor by overseeing the activities of team members involved in daily manufacturing operations. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of equipment and process specifications. The lead technician will provide assistance to production staff with engineering challenges and facilitate resolutions through collaboration with engineering and materials teams. This role demands a confident problem-solver who can navigate complex assembly tasks and thrives in a collaborative, process-oriented team environment. The lead technician should be a self-motivated individual, eager to achieve proficiency and efficiency across all levels of production. The lead reports directly to the Production Supervisor.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute assembly operations on all products with precision and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Conduct in-process quality inspections for team members.
  • Communicate sensitive employee information to the supervisor with integrity.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employment Manual.
  • Provide technical guidance and training on production best practices, aiming to eliminate non-value-added activities and share insights with engineering for process enhancements.
  • Address non-conformances with team members and hold them accountable.
  • Identify training needs of production associates and communicate them to the Trainer and Supervisor.
  • Alert the Production Supervisor immediately regarding any issues that may impact the daily production schedule.
  • Validate current preventative maintenance procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Enhance 5S, health and safety, and lean flow processes on the production floor.
  • Interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine material requirements or assembly instructions.
  • Utilize various hand tools to assemble units according to specifications, interpreting drawings and adhering to manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and contribute to improvements.
  • Support production leads as needed or in an interim capacity.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
  • Achieve quality workmanship with a target of 0% defects.
  • Contribute to the team's goal of on-time delivery at 99.55% or better.
  • Enhance quality ratings by minimizing errors in workmanship and developing new processes to prevent mistakes.
  • Maintain J-Standard Certification.
  • Control unscheduled PTO to less than 7% per month.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma/GED or Associate's Degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical assembly.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems - ISO 9001B, AS9100, and AS9102.
  • Solder Certifications IPC. J-STD-001 and/or other Cert's IPC-610/620 (CIT Required).
  • Understanding of lean, six sigma, and 5S tools and techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Possess J-STD Certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of electrical assembly components and related wiring materials.
  • Proficient in soldering.
  • Strong reading comprehension and ability to understand related documents.
  • Manual dexterity: ability to swiftly manipulate or assemble objects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to meeting quality, on-time delivery, and revenue goals.
