We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Science Teacher to join our team at Walker Therapeutic & Educational Programs (Walker). As a Science Teacher, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing course curricula, providing consultation to general education teachers, and creating a safe and supportive learning environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities- Curriculum Development: Develop and implement course curricula in the assigned areas of teaching, ensuring alignment with Walker's educational goals and standards.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Provide consultation to general education teachers on strategies for supporting students with learning disabilities, and collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective instructional practices.
- Classroom Management: Create a safe and supportive learning environment by incorporating therapeutic supports into the classroom, and enforcing all school rules and guidelines.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop formative and summative assessments, and provide evaluative feedback, for each student in every class.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate attendance and grade records for each class, and submit course outlines and unit plans for each course.
- Professional Development: Participate in scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, and other educational opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Communication: Share information on student progress with other members of the Beacon staff, including clinicians, guidance counselors, the nurse, and administrators.
- Milieu Participation: Participate in the milieu, including leading activities, advising clubs, monitoring the Commons and other student areas.
- Academic Support: Provide academic support to assigned students, and communicate regularly with students and families about progress and/or concerns.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree with certification in Moderate Special Needs, 5-12.
- Experience: 1 year direct teaching experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree, 2 years of teaching experience.
