Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Specialist to engage in multi-craft work, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying building equipment and structures. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial building maintenance, excellent reading, writing, and English speaking skills, and the ability to work in varying physical environments.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, and repair equipment, including H.V.A.C systems, lab and kitchen equipment, and building plumbing and electrical systems.
- Engage in controlled maintenance inspections and perform necessary work to keep all equipment in safe and efficient operating order.
- Perform remodeling and construction work within the scope of developed skills.
- Conserve energy of all utilities.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial building maintenance.
- Reading, writing, and English speaking skills.
- Ability to work in varying physical environments, including heights and outside weather.
- Valid Illinois driver's license.
- Ability to be contacted by telephone for emergencies and respond to the College within 30 minutes.
- Ability to work from a ladder and on feet for at least 8 hours.
- Working experience of steam and hot water boilers, water treatment, and electrical systems up to 480 volts.
- EPA - Refrigerant Recovery Act - Universal Certification.
The Building Maintenance Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with loud noise, outdoor weather, and hazards. The ideal candidate will be able to work in close quarters, handle vibration, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
