Key Responsibilities – As a Facility Operations Engineer, your primary role will focus on the operation, upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of facility systems and equipment. Your specialized knowledge in areas such as Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations will be essential, and you will also be expected to demonstrate proficiency in various other disciplines to effectively manage daily tasks.

Daily Activities Include:

  • Conducting maintenance and monitoring repairs for Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Overseeing facility services, preventative maintenance, inventory management, and technical expertise.
  • Performing maintenance tasks such as cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing components to optimize HVAC systems and related equipment.
  • Recording operational data and making necessary adjustments to ensure equipment functions properly.
  • Adhering to safety protocols for the storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Regularly checking tool and instrument inventory.
  • Evaluating the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by external contractors.
  • Engaging in physical activities such as bending, kneeling, and reaching to access equipment for extended periods.
  • Working in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and varying light conditions.
  • Participating in a 24/7 operational schedule.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to analyze the operation of various Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, identify issues, and implement corrective measures.
  • EPA 608 Type II Certification.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Word and Excel.

Preferred

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification is advantageous.
  • 3-8 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
  • Two years of technical education in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC is preferred.
