Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Career Counselor II to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our Career Education department, you will play a vital role in supporting the career development of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group career counseling to undergraduate students, helping them navigate their educational plans and career decision-making processes.
  • Lead discussions and activities designed to support students with complex career exploration situations, identifying and addressing financial and social barriers to early career development.
  • Assess, select, and interpret career assessments in individual and group settings, delivering workshops and presentations to student groups across campus.
  • Represent Texas Career Engagement at events, including orientation sessions, and create, manage, and grow career communities related to helping professions for all UT Austin students.
  • Plan, coordinate, and present industry-focused career programming and workshops, offering tailored resources and opportunities for careers, professional development, and employer connections.
  • Collaborate with the employer engagement team to foster student-employer connections and represent Career Education at events and meetings.
  • Maintain career counseling competence and knowledge of career theory through literature consultation, conference attendance, and research activities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of career development principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A master's degree in counseling or a related field is required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in career counseling or a related field.
