About the Opportunity

WSP is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Geologist to join our Federal Environmental Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects across the country, including contaminated site remedial investigations and remedial designs.

Your Impact
  • Perform contaminated site remedial investigations, including planning document development and conceptual site modeling.
  • Develop feasibility studies, remedial designs, and other documents required for CERCLA and RCRA projects.
  • Manage projects technically and administratively, ensuring timely completion and client satisfaction.
  • Establish presence in the Federal environmental industry by developing strategies for growth and identifying opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients, including regulatory agencies and subcontractors.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance and leadership to junior team members.
  • Prepare and implement planning documents, including QAPPs, Workplans, and site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Prepare subcontractor scopes of work and procure subcontractors, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead site investigation, subsurface boring and trenching oversight, and monitoring of groundwater and extraction well installations.
  • Provide guidance with data collection efforts, including soil and sediment sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater, surface water, and stormwater sampling.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data, offering input on developing action plans for threat mitigation activities.
  • Prepare complex data and visualizations, including soil analyses, groundwater modeling, maps, geologic cross-sections, and other illustrations.
  • Ensure regulatory requirement compliance, including data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including Remedial Investigation reports, and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide future-ready solutions for clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a closely related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience working as a Geologist, with active Professional Geologist registration.
  • Proven contract/project management experience with USACE and/or USEPA, and/or experience working on Department of Defense projects.
  • Proven track record of successful project and client management, and strong client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a positive attitude and ability to work independently and within groups.
  • Occasional travel may be required, with the ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.
  • Strong understanding of relevant State and Federal regulations, including environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Proficiency with geological research, investigation, technology, measurement tools, software, and techniques.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to express ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership, with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, and communication software, technology, and tools.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses.
  • Effective at coordinating and directing others in the field, including subcontracted drillers, excavation contractors, utility locators, and others.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
