About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Tri-County Human Services. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend community forums and engage with individuals regarding their experiences and provide feedback to service providers.
  • Develop recovery objectives that meet individual progress towards goals, working closely with providers to ensure targeted improvements.
  • Engage individuals in conversations about their life experiences, promoting understanding and hope for recovery.
  • Develop rapport with individuals involved in the criminal justice system or experiencing behavioral/emotional difficulties.
  • Assist with enrollment for services provided by community behavioral health providers.
  • Lend expertise to program environments conducive to recovery, sharing insights into mental illness and its treatment.
  • Facilitate peer group support using the Illness Management and Recovery model.
  • Complete and maintain personal recovery plans, identifying strengths, needs, and interventions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of full-time experience in a mental health or addictions treatment setting preferred.
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist by the Florida Certification Board is essential.
  • Knowledge of addictions treatment and mental health programs, including supportive services, is necessary.

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
