We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Merchandising Specialist to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a key member of our merchandise team, you will be responsible for driving sales and margin growth through effective merchandising strategies and tactics.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute sales and margin plans for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives and goals.
- Manage and control open-to-buy positioning, buying merchandise for assigned categories, and negotiating with vendors on pricing, quantity, delivery, and terms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement merchandise packaging and presentation techniques that enhance productivity and execution.
- Assess merchandise mix based on consumer trends and business needs, developing planograms and providing recommendations on assortments.
- Review advertising and promotion analytics to evaluate performance, refine merchandise plans, and suggest adjustments to strategy.
- Implement category pricing strategy and execute exit strategies on slow-selling items, ensuring alignment with competitive landscape, sales, and margin objectives.
- Research competitive landscape and consumer trends to ensure alignment with strategy, identifying merchandising risks and opportunities, and presenting recommendations.
- Provide effective and supportive direction and guidance to Merchant Assistants, ensuring seamless execution of merchandising strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in business or operations-related field.
- 2-5 years of professional merchandising or retail operations experience.
- Knowledge of vendor negotiation techniques.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
