Position Overview

The Facilities Operations Engineer plays a vital role within the Data Center Operations team, focusing on the maintenance and management of critical infrastructure systems across various data center properties. This position reports directly to the Engineering Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities


The Facilities Operations Engineer is expected to:

  • Support daily operations, including the development and modification of operational procedures.
  • Assist in the creation of change management documentation and ensure timely incident reporting.
  • Conduct site maintenance and inspections to uphold the highest standards of operational availability.

Essential Knowledge Areas


Familiarity with the following is crucial:

  • Facility layouts and MEP system operations, including the ability to accurately illustrate system diagrams.
  • Standards for equipment nomenclature and knowledge of equipment locations.
  • Understanding of facility drawings, equipment specifications, and standard operating procedures.
  • Customer service level agreements (SLAs) and engineering lease obligations.
  • Alarm functionalities and event management protocols.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for managing work orders.

Qualifications


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in mission-critical facilities or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Hands-on expertise in either electrical or mechanical systems, with a working knowledge of the other.
  • Strong understanding of UPS systems, cooling architectures, and energy efficiency principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management tools.
