About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team at Duke Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care: Take medical histories, record vital signs, explain treatment procedures to patients, and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Administrative Support: Greet patients, answer telephones, schedule appointments, check out patients, and perform other administrative duties as directed.
  • Clinical Support: Assist medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is required for Level II and III positions.
  • Certifications: Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA is required.
