About the Position

The City of Edmond is seeking a skilled Solid Waste Truck Driver to join our team. As a key member of our Solid Waste Services Division, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty packer refuse collection trucks, transporting waste to the landfill and/or transfer station, and maintaining, repairing, and delivering refuse containers.

Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy-duty packer refuse collection trucks
  • Dump residential carts or commercial style containers into the truck
  • Transport waste to the transfer station, which may include servicing roll off containers
  • Leave notifications for customers and report to supervisor regarding violations of regulations
  • Read & understand route sheets to determine street address & type of services needed
  • Leave notice messages and/or instructions to homeowners about special services
  • Maintain equipment by performing minor vehicle maintenance, such as checking tire inflation, cleaning the cab, and washing the trucks exterior
  • Report any maintenance needs to the supervisor or to the garage
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
  • Two years related experience in solid waste management (preferred)
  • Valid Class "B" Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements
