Job Summary

The Produce Department Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the scheduling and supervision of Team Members, as well as the day-to-day flow of the department. This role oversees and maintains compelling Produce, coffee, and juice displays, supporting the Produce Team Leader and Associate Team Leader(s) to ensure a smooth operation of the Produce Team. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, maintain a positive company image, and adhere to all applicable health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise and Delegate Tasks: Supervise and delegate tasks to Produce Team Members, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
  2. Training and Development: Work with the Produce Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  3. Team Member Support: Assist in the training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  4. Department Maintenance: Keep all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated.
  5. Department Operations: Assist with opening and closing the department according to established procedures.
  6. Break Scheduling: Ensure all necessary breaks are given to Team Members.
  7. Communication: Communicate team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader.
  8. Customer Service: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
  9. Team Performance: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  10. Performance Evaluations: Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
Requirements:
  1. Education and Experience: 12+ months retail experience.
  2. Skills: Extensive knowledge of Produce team procedures and policies, strong organizational and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills, and proficiency with email and operations-related applications.
  3. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, and work in a wet and cold environment.
