Respiratory Therapist

Responsibilities
- Maintain the flow of daily tasks within Romo Medical Equipment LLC.
- Participate and cooperate in the agency based quality improvement process.
- Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, and environmental control system following specified parameters of treatment.
- Responsible for case management and quality of care provided by professional staff.
- Actively participate in conferences planned for staff professional growth and development.
- Determine requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken compatible with physicians' orders.
- Market the agency throughout the community, i.e., health fairs, visiting physicians' offices, workshops and seminars.
- Ensure the maintenance of agency records to satisfy the requirements of state laws, always maintaining the highest standards.
- Read prescription, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess patient condition.
- Practice, develop and endorse customer services skills in relationship with customers.
- Practice and demonstrate an open door policy for all employees.
- Must possess a valid state issued Drivers License and be insurable.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must have excellent computer skills.
- Must communicate to President any day to day decisions made for the organization.
- Enforce safety rules and ensure careful adherence to physicians' orders.
- Maintain charts that contain patients' pertinent identification and therapy information.
- Inspect, clean, test and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, ordering repairs when necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about their conditions and teach appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.
- Explain treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation and allay fears.
- Perform pulmonary function and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results in therapy.
- Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.
- Make emergency visits to resolve equipment problems.
Requirements
- Active credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state board equivalent preferred.
- State licensure required.
- Deep understanding of respiratory care, patient care, and best patient practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment
- Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Full Time- 40 hours.
Education
- Bachelors Degree.
- Associates Degree.
Physical Requirements
- The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as standing or walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and stretching to set up and take apart respiratory equipment and apparatus.
- Lifting and repositioning patients.
- Pushing or pulling heavy objects such as oxygen tanks and/or ventilator equipment.
