About the Role:

As a Pharmacy Intern at Advocate Aurora Health, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting while working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role is ideal for students pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and looking to develop their skills in medication preparation, patient interaction, and pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation and dispensing
  • Interview patients to obtain medication histories and provide education on medication use
  • Perform tasks related to medication ordering, receipt, stocking, and inventory control
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the pharmacy by performing clerical duties
  • Receive and interpret medication/prescription orders and enter them into the pharmacy computer system
  • Participate in mock job/residency interviews and receive feedback on your performance

Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Pharmacy
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn pharmacy software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team environment

Working Conditions:
  • May be required to lift up to 35 pounds and push/pull carts with 30 pounds of force
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move around the pharmacy area
  • May be exposed to chemical hazards and hazardous waste
