Job Description:

In this role as a Medical Case Manager II at CorVel Healthcare Corporation, you will play a crucial part in the lives of injured workers and their families. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate their recovery by working closely with them, medical providers, members of our team, and others. This position involves heavy local travel to work with a caseload of workers' compensation injured workers within a defined jurisdiction.

About the Role:

  • You will provide Medical Case Management to individuals through in-person and telephonic communications with the patient, physician, other healthcare providers, employer, and others.
  • You will utilize your medical and nursing knowledge to discuss the current treatment plan with the physician and discuss alternate treatment plans.
  • You will evaluate the patient's treatment plan for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • You will provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's progress.
  • You will attend doctors', other providers', home, and in some cases, attorneys' visits.
  • You will attend hospital and/or long-term facility discharge planning conferences to determine appropriateness of care and develop an effective long-term care strategy.
  • This role requires regular travel, dependent on the injured worker's injuries and needs, with availability for local travel up to approximately 60% of the work week/month.
  • This role may require overnight travel.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To excel in this position, you will need the following skills and qualifications:

  • Effective Communication and Multi-Tasking Skills: You should have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Nursing Background: A registered nurse or medical case manager background is ideal, or a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation is preferred.
  • Interpersonal and Time Management Skills: You should possess strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills to succeed in this role.
  • Computer Proficiency: You should have computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office, including Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to Work Independently and in a Team Environment: You should be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
