Position Overview:
The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is a specialized 36-bed unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures. Our focus is on continuous education and the enhancement of critical thinking and technical skills among our nursing staff.

Role Responsibilities:
Registered Nurses in this unit are expected to demonstrate advanced competencies that allow them to operate at the highest level of their nursing license. Responsibilities include:
  • Management of complex medical devices such as long-term left ventricular assist devices, Impellas, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, advanced practice providers, and various therapy specialists, to ensure personalized, high-quality patient care.
  • Engagement in continuous quality improvement initiatives aimed at implementing evidence-based practices.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing (required).
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (to be obtained within 5 years).
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (to be obtained within 90 days).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (to be obtained within 6 months).
  • Preferred: 6+ months of inpatient RN experience.
