Recreational Therapist

At the Behavioral Center of Michigan, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Recreational Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing Recreational Therapy services to our clients.

The Recreational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic activities to promote positive changes in clients' behavior, social skills, emotional well-being, and physical abilities. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques.

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients' needs and develop individualized treatment plans to address their goals and objectives.
• Plan and implement a range of therapeutic activities, including group and individual sessions, to promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless delivery of services and effective communication with clients and their families.
• Document client progress and outcomes, maintaining accurate and timely records of treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and industry standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
• Certification by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC).
• Previous experience in a psychiatric setting, preferably with 2 years of experience.
