Position Summary
The Senior Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in proposing, budgeting, developing, and implementing networked automation solutions aimed at enhancing Edmund Optics's competitiveness in the high-end optical components sector.

This position involves providing technical direction to both internal and external automation engineers, encouraging collaboration and consultation. The Senior Automation Engineer will also work closely with various partners, prepare decision-making documents, and lead implementation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, cost, develop, configure, and implement mechanical, electronic, and digital processes to optimize operational efficiencies, increase yield, and enhance the capabilities of Edmund Optics from concept to pilot phase.
- Offer guidance to engineers on Smart Automation and Industry 4.0 topics, fostering discussions and knowledge sharing.
- Establish process monitoring plans to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
- Provide timely support to relevant operational and quality assurance teams during the transition from pilot to production phases, while creating and maintaining comprehensive solution documentation.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance the overall capabilities of Edmund Optics.

Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Proven experience in setting up programmable logic controllers (PLC), single-board computers, and/or robotic or automated systems, preferably within an industrial context.
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- A solid team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of thriving in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
