Job Summary:

As a Specialty Pharmacist at Elevance Health, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. You will be responsible for performing duties as a licensed pharmacist, maintaining adherence to laws and regulations, and maintaining compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations as well as local, state, and federal requirements as it pertains to prescriptions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security, and inventory of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.
  • Ensure compliance with laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs.
  • Engage in consultation with prescribers regarding providing pharmaceutical care.
  • Answer questions and provide information to patients on drug interaction, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensure that stock and supplies necessary for customer care are ordered, stored, and handled in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Lead the activities of pharmacy technicians and delivery/equipment technicians.
  • Dispense and compound drugs.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, and ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
  • Assist the patient delivery representative in orders, receiving, maintaining, and tracking all infusion-related equipment.
  • May be required to travel to different worksites and other locations as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Requires a BA/BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D and a minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Pharmacist in a clinic and/or alternate site/home health pharmacy service; or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
  • Requires a current active unrestricted license to practice pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh).
  • Multi-state licensure is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.
  • For Paragon and Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
Preferred Requirements:
Sterile Compounding preferred.
