Job Summary

This position is for a Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer who will work on various projects as part of the NS&E engineering execution center team. The projects that will be assigned involve government work throughout various sectors, including DOD and DOE.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Develop and revise Mechanical Handling design documents and Procurement Documents.
  • Participate in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  • Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
  • Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
  • Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
Requirements
  • Level 1: Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) from an ABET accredited university/college and a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Level 2: Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) from an ABET accredited university/college and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related experience includes but is not limited to MHD, MFD, MSD, Material Requisitions, Specification, calculations, and datasheets for Mechanical equipment on powerplants, refineries, or chemical/nuclear process facilities.
  • Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Familiar with regulations and industry codes and standards affecting complex engineering work within discipline.
  • Understands technical issues and costs related to selection of typical design features within discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Knows how to develop all standard deliverables within discipline.
  • Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Familiar with effort required to prepare standard discipline deliverables and knows how to prepare standard engineering budgets and schedules within discipline.
