Position Overview

Role Summary: The primary goal is to empower and equip every student with the confidence, resilience, and skills necessary to realize their aspirations, contribute positively to their community, and engage in lifelong learning. This role involves planning, guiding, assessing, and refining strategies and services aimed at enhancing student achievement and engagement, particularly for those facing behavioral and academic challenges. Responsibilities include consulting with educators, staff, administrators, and families to devise effective strategies, observing students and classrooms to provide insights on academic and behavioral approaches, coaching staff on the implementation of Behavior Support Plans, and collaborating with instructional teams to foster a structured and supportive classroom environment. It is essential to ensure that the objectives outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans are executed with precision.

Additionally, the role entails working with Problem Solving Teams to establish efficient processes for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, contributing to and demonstrating evidence-based strategies for instructional staff, and collaborating with district and site teams to identify needs and deliver professional learning support for curriculum implementation. The specialist will also seek and evaluate effective processes that advance the educational system, ensuring equitable access to services, resources, and technologies. Maintaining open communication with staff, administrators, colleagues, students, and families is crucial for the development, delivery, and assessment of strategies and professional learning. Participation in district, building, and departmental leadership activities is expected, along with providing both in-person and remote learning support as needed. Flexibility in work hours may be required to meet the needs of the district and department.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Current licensure in a Special Education area or as a Licensed School Psychologist, OR a valid teaching license in another field with a willingness to obtain an Out of Field Permission.
  • If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience working with students with behavioral and academic needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BCBA certification preferred.
  • Current Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) trainer certification or willingness to obtain training.
Compensation: Salary information can be found on the teacher's contract grid.
Work Schedule: 191 days per school year
Full-Time Equivalent: 1.0
