Job Description:
  We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our Customer Identity Engineering team at StubHub.

This role will be based in either New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA or Aliso Viejo, CA office and has a hybrid (3 in-person days per week) work schedule.

Responsibilities:

  As a senior software engineer on the Customer Identity Engineering team, you will work on improving and maintaining the core systems that authenticate and authorize users across our platforms. You will also collaborate with data scientists and other engineering teams to build and implement advanced detections to identify and prevent Auth-N / Auth-Z abuse.

  Main Responsibilities:

  
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable authentication and authorization services.
  • Implement security features to protect against common vulnerabilities (e.g. OWASP top 10).
  • Collaborate with data science teams to integrate machine learning models aimed at identifying and preventing suspicious login activity.
  • Monitor and improve the performance of identity-related services.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to account security, user identity, and authentication failures.
  • Drive improvements in security protocols, performance optimization, and user experience.
  • Keep up to date with the latest security and identity management trends and apply that knowledge to your work.

Requirements:

  Technical Requirements:

  
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally with a focus on authentication, authorization, and identity services.
  • Proficiency in backend development using languages such as Java, C#, or Python.
  • Experience working with security protocols such as OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, and WebAuthN.
  • Familiarity with building and maintaining scalable, distributed systems.
  • Experience working with databases, both relational (e.g., MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, Cassandra).
  • Understanding foundational concepts of machine learning (Supervised / Unsupervised) and the ability to collaborate with data scientists on implementations.
  • World-class problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about security, reliability, and performance.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  
  • Working Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), hands-on experience building and owning a cloud optimized service.
  • Expert experience with containerization and hosting technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus / Grafana.
  • Previous experience leveraging Machine Learning to augment authentication services to identify fraudulent/ anonymous logins.
