As a Behavioral Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing direct support, and participating in activities planned by our school district staff.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Support: Provide primary support to students with special needs, including assisting with daily living skills, academic support, and behavioral interventions.
- Participation in Activities: Participate in activities planned by our school district staff, including in-class activities, instructional training, and social skills development.
- Assistance with Instructional Activities: Assist school district staff with in-class activities, including preparing instructional materials, adapting devices, and maintaining a neat and orderly classroom environment.
- Behavioral Support: Assist school district staff in maintaining a good learning atmosphere by using effective teaching and behavior management techniques, including crisis intervention and discipline.
- Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school district staff, and administration, while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Education: Proof of High School Diploma or equivalency; or proof of an A.A. degree, 48 college units; or pass the Paraeducator Exam.
- Experience: Recent experience in working with groups, such as youth groups, child centers, or playgrounds, and/or experience requiring organizational skills is desirable.
- Skills: Ability to understand and anticipate the needs of children, operate classroom technology equipment, understand and follow oral and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
