Key Responsibilities:

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively manage the following essential duties:

  • Analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project.
  • Collaborate closely with the construction project manager to supervise and coordinate the bidding process for vendors and subcontractors.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site evaluations.
  • Estimate time, labor, materials, and product costs to ascertain the total expenses for construction projects.
  • Generate detailed written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project managers.
  • Provide precise takeoff information along with a comprehensive list of materials and total construction costs.
  • Request pricing and information from subcontractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Review and assess change orders and other cost implications.
  • Follow up with clients regarding submitted proposals and budgets.

Required Competencies:

  • Exceptional multitasking and prioritization skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and precision.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, accounting, construction management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in civil estimating or 5 years in civil construction.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
  • Experience with utilities, storm piping, and FDOT specifications.
  • Understanding of risk analysis and estimation metrics.
  • Proficient in estimating software, such as HCSS, Bid2Win, or similar tools.
  • Proficient in O365 and Adobe Acrobat.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
