About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team at GWC Engineering. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and executing the design and development of mechanical systems and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Leadership: Lead the design of piping systems at industrial and chemical manufacturing facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Field Reviews: Conduct field reviews and prepare as-built condition drawings for design development, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Design Development: Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems, from concept through production, utilizing CAD software and other design tools.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define design requirements and project scope, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize CAD software (such as Plant3D, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Revit) to create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and specifications, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Design Reviews: Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior designers and engineers, ensuring quality and consistency in design deliverables.
  • Constructibility and Cost-Effectiveness: Ensure designs are constructible and cost-effective, coordinating with engineers and contractor teams to address any installation/fabrication challenges.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree in mechanical design or a related field. Bachelor of Science is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design, with a proven track record of successful projects.
  • CAD Software: Expertise in CAD software (Plant3D, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks) and other design tools.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading design projects and mentoring team members.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to mechanical design and product development.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and analytically.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industrial Piping Systems: Experience in industrial piping systems design, pipe fitting, and/or steel fabrication.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of project management principles and tools.
  • Advanced Manufacturing: Familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • QA/QC: Understanding of the value and importance of QA/QC for design verification.
Working Conditions

This position routinely operates in an office environment with occasional travel to client sites.
