Job Summary

American Family Care Louisville is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented X-ray Technologist or Limited Scope Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality X-ray procedures, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • X-ray Duties:
    • Greet patients, ensure they are properly prepared for procedures, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
    • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring optimal views and patient comfort.
    • Adjust immobilization devices, explain procedures to patients, and practice radiation protection techniques.
    • Maintain accurate records, process images, and review for quality control.
    • Utilize digital and non-digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and AFC policies.
    • Prepare images for reading by providers, contact additional providers as needed, and aid with prescribed patient treatments.
    • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment.
    • Complete forms, maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
    • Observe safety and security procedures, promote a safe and pleasant work environment, and report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Medical Assistant Duties:
    • Take vital signs, explain procedures and treatments to patients, and prepare equipment for treatment and examination.
    • Ensure accurate and timely completion of ordered tests, administer prescribed medications and treatments, and maintain awareness of patient comfort and needs.
    • Properly start lab equipment, perform maintenance, and maintain daily logs and records.
    • Draw blood samples, perform laboratory tests, and administer IV fluids (training provided if not certified).
    • Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures, order and stock supplies, and respond to lab messages and call back requests.
    • Utilize lab software and equipment according to proper procedure and instruction, collect specimens, and observe patient reactions and conditions.
    • Respond to life-saving situations, perform drug screening procedures, and ensure patient immunizations are appropriate and well-documented.
    • Conduct provider referrals and service pre-certifications as needed, document past medical history assessments, and rotate among various clinical services.
    • Prepare rooms, sterilize instruments and equipment, and ensure work areas are neat and clean.
    • Manage difficult customer situations, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, and maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Manage competing demands, adapt to change in the work environment, and serve as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Assistant as needed.
    • Treat people with respect, inspire trust, work with integrity, and uphold organizational values.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Current certification as an X-ray Technologist or Limited Scope Radiologic Technologist required.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift, including weekends and holidays, and rotate among various clinical services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, process images, and review for quality control.
  • Knowledge of digital and non-digital diagnostic imaging equipment and AFC policies.
