About the Role
The Catering to You - Patient Dining Associate is a vital member of our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key player in our Food and Nutrition Department, this individual will work closely with our clinical staff to cater to the specific needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate and current information for each patient on assigned units.
- Demonstrates knowledge of modified diets, proper condiments, and related restrictions for diets based upon passing a written test provided by clinical staff.
- Assists Dietitian with monitoring of patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, or need to have intake recorded.
- Accurately and effectively adapts to Physician-ordered modified patient diets and ensures an efficient timing of services by providing quality patient customer service.
- Assists patients with menu selections and works hand-in-hand with our Food and Nutrition Department with assembling selected meals on trays and with the delivery and pick-up of meal trays.
- Communicates any patient/resident-related problems to appropriate personnel, in a timely manner.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Requirements
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Customer service skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
- Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers.
- Exceptional focus on teamwork.
- Dedication to ongoing education.
- Ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food service experience.
