Senior GIS Analyst for Transportation Systems

Overview:

Contribute to the advancement and upkeep of geospatial initiatives that bolster operational, reporting, and analytical tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of GIS data development systems that facilitate bus and rail operations, including Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) programs, as well as bus scheduling and rail mapping.
  • Act as the primary analyst for transportation data, integrating geographic information with scheduling and infrastructure datasets.
  • Lead projects aimed at creating GIS applications that cater to both corporate and specific business unit needs. Responsible for the administration and upkeep of GIS software, serving as a technical liaison with IT personnel, and resolving GIS application and database issues.
  • Manage projects involving staff and consultants in the development of GIS applications, ensuring technical support is provided as necessary.
  • Assess project progress and outcomes, recommending modifications and procedural changes as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact with various departments, agencies, and consultants to support both internal and external projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, Transportation, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in complex GIS applications related to transportation.
  • A Master's degree in one of the aforementioned fields may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Essential Skills:

Required:

  • Strong proficiency in GIS software and a solid understanding of Oracle database management practices. Skills in geospatial data analysis, data integration, and map creation are essential.
  • Experience with the ESRI Enterprise suite, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with StoryMaps, Field Maps/Survey123, ArcGIS Hub, and application design using Experience Builder.
