The YMCA of Greenville is seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as an Aquatic Safety Specialist. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our members, guests, and program participants in our pools and aquatics areas.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce Aquatics Rules and Guidelines: Communicate and enforce aquatics rules and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Pool Operations: Properly open, perform daily tasks, and close the aquatics area each day according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked, and well-organized work area.
- Emergency Response: Handle and resolve aquatics concerns and inform the supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Communication: Provide accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all requests by members/guests.
- Independence: Work without constant direct supervision and remain at the assigned post for extended periods of time.
- Teamwork: Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
- Boundary Management: Maintain positive relations at all times with members, participants, and co-workers.
- Abuse Prevention: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers, attend/complete required abuse risk management training, and follow mandated reporting requirements.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 15 years old.
- Certifications: Current lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (American Red Cross or YMCA).
- Communication Skills: Able to communicate and enforce policies and procedures to members, program participants, and guests.
- Emergency Response: Able to react quickly and properly in emergency situations.
- Customer Service: Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
- Training: Complete Blood Bourne Pathogen and Child Abuse Prevention training within the first 30 days of employment.
