Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are in search of a proficient and knowledgeable Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist to enhance our medical faculty. In this role, you will be tasked with delivering specialized diagnostic imaging services for both adult and pediatric patients, concentrating on the musculoskeletal system within an academic healthcare environment. Your responsibilities will include the interpretation of diverse imaging modalities such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasound examinations, as well as performing invasive procedures aimed at diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. You will also play a vital role in research, education, and training initiatives within the realm of MSK radiology.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Image Analysis: Analyze and report on musculoskeletal imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasound examinations. Provide thorough evaluations of bone, joint, and soft tissue pathologies, including fractures, arthritis, tumors, and sports-related injuries.
  2. Diagnostic Documentation: Create detailed and comprehensive diagnostic reports based on your evaluations of musculoskeletal imaging studies. Ensure that reports are clear, concise, and provide clinically relevant information to assist referring physicians in patient management.
  3. Consultation and Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with referring physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging findings, provide consultation, and assist in formulating appropriate treatment plans for patients with musculoskeletal abnormalities.
  4. Minimally Invasive Techniques: Conduct image-guided interventions and procedures, such as joint injections, aspirations, and biopsies under imaging guidance including fluoroscopy, ultrasound, or CT.
  5. Research and Educational Engagement: Participate in academic and research activities pertinent to musculoskeletal radiology. Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field through involvement in research projects, publications, and presentations. Additionally, engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, sharing insights about imaging techniques, anatomy, and pathology of the musculoskeletal system.
  6. Quality Control: Uphold high standards of diagnostic accuracy and quality assurance in interpreting musculoskeletal imaging studies. Engage in quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  7. Ongoing Professional Development: Remain informed about the latest advancements, techniques, and guidelines in musculoskeletal radiology through continuous education (CME) and participation in relevant conferences, workshops, and seminars.
  8. Patient Interaction: Exhibit empathy, professionalism, and excellent communication skills when interacting with patients undergoing musculoskeletal imaging studies. Provide clear explanations of procedures and findings to patients and address any concerns or questions they may have.
  9. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory guidelines, standards, and protocols related to musculoskeletal imaging, patient safety, and data confidentiality.
  10. Equipment Oversight: Collaborate with technical staff to ensure proper maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment utilized for musculoskeletal studies, ensuring optimal image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
  11. Team Collaboration and Mentorship: Promote a collaborative and supportive work environment by actively participating in team meetings, case discussions, and professional development activities. Mentor and support junior staff and residents in their training and development in musculoskeletal radiology.
  12. Qualifications:
MD or DO Degree required.

ABR certification or eligibility.

Licensed (or eligible) to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina required.
