Position Overview:

As a pivotal member of the healthcare team, you will deliver exceptional nursing care, applying the nursing process in alignment with established standards of care, policies, and procedures.

You will embody the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving systems while demonstrating quality and effectiveness in your clinical practice.

You will treat colleagues, patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team with the utmost dignity and respect, upholding Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and relevant laws.

In this leadership role, you will mentor, orient, and coach team members in unit-specific operations and patient care activities. You will share responsibility and authority with your team, holding them accountable for their performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize, delegate, and supervise work assignments to ensure the timely completion of patient care activities.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

Nursing Process:


Develop and contribute to individualized care plans that reflect comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.

Ensure that care plans incorporate multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education, addressing age-appropriate care and cultural needs.

In outpatient settings, identify barriers and needs for patient and family education to facilitate effective medical management.

Ensure patients understand medication purposes, side effects, and administration instructions both during their stay and at discharge.

Document nursing processes, interventions, and evaluations accurately, utilizing computer systems efficiently for optimal patient care.

Engage in discussions with physicians and other healthcare team members regarding patient findings and progress towards outcomes.

Make informed nursing decisions based on data interpretation, assessments, and evaluations of patient outcomes.

Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including planning, measuring, monitoring, assessing, and enhancing care quality.


Patient Care Experience:
Practice customer service standards as defined by the Service Area and Medical Center.

Deliver an outstanding patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and their families, taking responsibility for addressing those needs.

Be recognized as an effective team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others.

Confront challenging situations constructively and seek appropriate assistance when necessary.

Act as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees, registry staff, students, and other team members.

Engage in all mandatory meetings, in-services, and staff meetings as required, actively participating in professional development opportunities.

Contribute to assessing current and future unit learning needs and developing an annual education plan.

Stay informed about unit activities and make recommendations for improvements.

Ensure timely reporting to assigned areas, being present and available for handoff at the start of your shift.

Support a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.

Organize work to minimize overtime and utilize resources effectively.

Qualifications:

  • 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Labor & Delivery, antepartum testing, FCC/Post Partum, OB/GYN, or Women's Health in an acute or ambulatory setting.
  • A limited 2nd and 3rd trimester OB ultrasound certification/training is required within the last 5 years.

License, Certification, Registration:
  • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate.
