Requirements / Qualifications

TRAINING, EDUCATION,

AND EXPERIENCE:

High school graduation is required, along with one year of experience working with individuals or students in a structured environment. Additionally, candidates must meet one of the following criteria: completion of at least two years of higher education (48 semester units), possession of an associate's degree, successful completion of the district paraprofessional examination, or compliance with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) standards.

Instructional Assistant I requires completion of one year of college-level coursework (30 accredited units).

Instructional Assistant II necessitates two years of college-level coursework (60 accredited units) and must have served 75% of the school year in the role of Instructional Assistant I.

Teacher Associate requires three years of college-level coursework (90 accredited units) and must have served 75% of the school year as an Instructional Assistant II.

Teacher Candidate must have a minimum of 120 college units, have served as a Teacher Associate for at least 75% of the previous two school years, and provide proof of current enrollment in courses leading to a bachelor's degree and/or teaching credential.
