Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Editor/Communication Specialist to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Research and Development Directorate at Fort Belvoir, VA. The successful candidate will develop communications and marketing materials, as well as provide technical editing and writing support. The position requires the ability to interface with high-level military, government, intelligence, and corporate personnel. Work will be conducted from the client site or from our contractor site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and edit official documents and written packages intended for Director's approval and signature.
  • Serve as a Research and Development Directorate focal point for matters related to written media, communications services, and products, and web presence.
  • Manage adherence to a style guide for all branding and messaging, and lead revision and updates to the Directorate's style guide.
  • Develop and revise editorial/communications standard operating procedures.
  • Support additional activities requiring the above skills for related efforts, such as preparing the newsletter, developing workshop and training materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree plus 3-5 years of experience or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Expert with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility, readiness to help in new areas.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the role of the R&D Directorate within the DoD acquisition lifecycle framework and the technology transition process.
  • Familiarity with military operations in CBRN environments.
  • Experience with CATMS or other tasker management system.
