Job Summary

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is seeking a skilled Coatings Technician to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing corrosion testing specimens, collecting quality evidence, and assisting engineers with test program execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specimen Preparation: Prepare corrosion testing specimens using industrial abrasive blast booths, power tools, and coating application techniques.
  • Quality Control: Collect objective quality evidence to ensure specimens are prepared correctly, including verifying metal coupon surface profiles and coating film thickness.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain functionality of equipment, including troubleshooting, replacing broken components, and scheduling calibration.
  • Test Program Execution: Assist engineers with test program execution, including laboratory, field, and shipboard tests, and specimen evaluation and data collection.
  • Lab Upkeep: Assist government personnel with laboratory upkeep, including maintaining hazardous materials inventory lists and organizing laboratory inventory.
Requirements
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, Associates degree preferred, 1-4 years of applicable and related experience.
  • Travel: 10-15% travel may be required.
  • OSHA Compliance: Must work within OSHA requirements and comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch, regularly required to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Will be required to wear safety glasses, gloves, and a respirator to safely perform assigned tasks when using solvents and hazardous materials.
Desired Skills
  • US Navy and US Marine Corp Experience: Experience working with and supporting US Navy and/or US Marine Corp programs is highly desired.
  • Coatings Application: Experience with spraying marine coatings using industrial Plural and Single Component Airless Paint Pumps.
  • Corrosion Prevention: Experience with mechanical testing, corrosion prevention, coatings application and evaluation, and vehicle/ship platforms.
