Environmental Scientist 1 (NDEC Scientist)

Atlas is a leading provider of environmental solutions, committed to enhancing quality of life through our work. As an Environmental Scientist 1 (NDEC Scientist), you will play a key role in our Washington team, contributing to positive change in salmon habitat restoration.

This dynamic role involves collaborating with construction teams to facilitate the execution of fish-habitat enhancement projects (FHEP), specifically focused on repairing culvert barriers for migrating fish beneath US101. As the key point of contact, you will work closely with our team to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct tree inventories and vegetation surveys
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Assist in wetland delineation, fish exclusion, and identification
  • Contribute to the development of plans and reports
  • Collaborate with construction teams to facilitate FHEP projects
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Botany, Geology, Engineering, or a related field
  • Zero to five years of professional experience
  • Education or practical experience in stormwater, geology, engineering, biology, or another related field
  • Ability to work outdoors during inclement weather and on uneven ground
  • Strong aptitude for fieldwork, with a focus on hands-on environmental assessments and monitoring activities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in wetland delineation, tree and stream evaluations, and construction monitoring
  • CESCL (stormwater qualification) and/or Certified Arborist certifications
