Foxdale Village Corporation is a distinguished non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) dedicated to providing a respectful and engaging environment for all residents. We are currently in search of a full-time Sous Chef to enhance our dedicated culinary team.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Sous Chef will:
- Act as the working lead supervisor, coordinating the activities of food service personnel.
- Engage with residents to ensure satisfaction in quality, service, and problem resolution.
- Prepare and serve meals adhering to established guidelines (ServSafe, HACCP, etc.).
- Collaborate with team members in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Handle multiple orders concurrently while maintaining high standards.
- Perform designated set-up and clean-up tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
- Cooking and preparing dishes using approved recipes while ensuring quality and consistency in taste and presentation.
- Assuming production responsibilities in the absence of the executive chef, maintaining high standards across all kitchen areas.
- Interacting with customers to ensure satisfaction and addressing any complaints in a friendly manner.
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding of daily menu items and effectively communicating this to staff and customers.
- Producing high-quality, visually appealing food across various culinary areas, including special dietary needs.
- Storing food properly according to corporate, state, and federal safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ensuring proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
- Maintaining cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and workstations, ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
- Conducting timely audits to uphold safety and quality standards in food service.
- Monitoring inventory and deliveries, tracking production, consumption, and waste, and notifying the executive chef of low supplies.

Minimum Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary education is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of two years in large quantity food preparation and at least one year in a lead role.
- Language: Proficiency in English is required.
- Math: Basic mathematical skills are necessary.
- Other: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, strong communication, and customer service skills.
- Willingness to work holidays and weekends as needed.
- Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to interact courteously with staff and residents.
- Strong team-building skills and a passion for exceptional culinary experiences.
