Overview:

The Aviation Maintenance Shop Supervisor is tasked with managing all repair and maintenance operations for small general aviation aircraft within an FBO setting.

This position guarantees that all activities are conducted in line with regulatory standards and organizational protocols, while leading a proficient team of mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Management:

  • Direct daily functions of the maintenance facility.
  • Oversee, mentor, and assess a team of aviation mechanics and technicians.
  • Plan and allocate tasks to ensure timely execution of maintenance duties.
  • Conduct routine team meetings and safety discussions.
Maintenance & Repair:

  • Guarantee all maintenance and repair work adheres to FAA regulations and company guidelines.
  • Establish and execute maintenance schedules and inspection protocols.
  • Identify mechanical and avionics problems and offer technical support to mechanics.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on completed tasks to confirm safety and airworthiness.
Inventory & Equipment Management:

  • Oversee the inventory of tools, equipment, and parts to ensure availability for scheduled maintenance.
  • Procure parts and supplies as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of equipment usage and maintenance.
Documentation & Reporting:

  • Keep precise records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure accurate documentation is completed for all tasks performed, including logbooks and maintenance records.
  • Generate reports on maintenance activities, shop performance, and adherence to regulations.
Customer Service:

  • Engage with aircraft owners and operators regarding maintenance requirements and progress updates.
  • Provide cost estimates for repairs and maintenance services.
  • Address customer inquiries and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the facility.
  • Implement and uphold safety programs and procedures.
Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for enhancement in maintenance processes and practices.
  • Adopt best practices and innovative strategies to improve shop efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements and regulatory updates.
Certifications:

  • A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license is mandatory.
  • IA (Inspection Authorization) is advantageous but not essential.
Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience as an aviation mechanic, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and management abilities, strong communication skills, and a thorough understanding of FAA regulations and general aviation maintenance practices.
Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with potential for overtime and weekend shifts.
  • Work is primarily conducted in a hangar environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Physical demands include the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring dexterity and precision.
