Position Summary:

The Senior Commercial Loan Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of customer and loan data within our loan applications and product packages.

This role collaborates closely with the Relationship Manager to facilitate new loan requests, renewals, modifications, and other customer inquiries within the bank's loan origination system. The Senior Specialist primarily handles complex relationships, including loans from specialized lending divisions.

Additionally, this position serves as the main point of contact between various internal departments, such as Compliance, Deposit Operations, Loan Documentation, Loan Servicing, and Post-Closing Review.

The Senior Specialist will also foster strong relationships with external clients and third-party vendors, and assist in training and developing new Loan Coordinators.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the bank's credit culture and advise Relationship Managers on any deviations from established practices.
  • Act as a resource for Relationship Managers regarding loan operations and the processing of loan requests.
  • Serve as a liaison for internal departments throughout the loan process.
  • Independently manage annual renewals, new loan requests, and monthly reporting tasks.
  • Ensure accurate entry of customer and loan information into the bank's loan origination system.
  • Gather all necessary pre-closing documentation, including flood letters, title work, appraisals, and corporate searches.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to collect data and documents as directed by the Relationship Manager.
  • Review closed loan packages to confirm compliance with loan policies.
  • Process Change Memos for adjustments made post-approval.
  • Assist in recordation and collateral perfection as required.
  • Monitor and help clear exception items.
  • Provide guidance and training to other Loan Coordinators.
  • Support the preparation of monthly monitoring reports for the Unit and RM Team.
  • Assist with daily overdrafts as needed.
  • Coordinate financial information from clients for analysis by the Credit Department.
  • Offer backup support for other Loan Coordinators during high-volume periods.
  • Participate in internal committees and task forces as requested.

Qualifications:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, commitment, and sound judgment in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other proprietary banking systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Consumer and Commercial Loan Coordinator.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial and Industrial (C&I), Commercial Real Estate (CRE), and Consumer lending processes.
  • Familiarity with attorney-prepared documentation is a plus.
