Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Clearance Specialist to join our team. As a Financial Clearance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients are financially cleared prior to services, at the bedside, and at discharge.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine patient eligibility for financial assistance programs
- Collect and negotiate point-of-service payments, copays, deductibles, and self-pay amounts
- Record and maintain complete documentation of activities performed in account notes and other databases
- Provide resolution or direct patients to the appropriate party for resolution or action
- Convey estimates of patient responsibility portions of billed costs to patients
- Counsel patients regarding their third-party coverage, financial responsibility, and billing procedures
- Review patient account summaries and initiate proper action
- Compose correspondence related to reimbursement and billing procedures
- Screen and inform patients of various healthcare financial assistance programs
- Contact external and internal customers for assistance with billing inquiries
- Assist with departmental coverage as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in a related field
