Job Title: Process Safety Engineer

Location: Freeport, TX

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000

Schedule: 9/80; 5/8's

Job Summary:

The Process Safety Engineer is a critical member of the Chlorinated Methane Product (CMP) staff, responsible for ensuring the implementation of process safety fundamentals and operating disciplines across the plant. This role requires collaboration with various disciplines, departments, and locations to drive improvements in process safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the plant's revalidation and implementation of LOPA/PHA and resolve identified gaps.
  • Review engineering deliverables and designs to ensure safety matters are addressed.
  • Manage and lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), HazOp, FMEA, and other PSM-related studies for existing processes, projects, and modifications.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement process safety fundamentals and operating disciplines.
  • Drive improvements to the plant's process safety culture through operations trainings, MOC reviews, procedure audits, and supporting the plant in process safety-related root cause analysis (RCA).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of chemical industry experience, Process Safety Management, or similar process safety function.
  • Experience with plant improvement project implementation and leading process hazard analysis (PHA) reviews.
  • Functional knowledge of consequence modeling, PSM and RMP program development, quantitative risk analysis, fault-tree analysis, SIL/Sis, and relief systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA's PSM Regulations, 29 CFR 1910 and EPA's RMP Regulation, 40 CFR 68 preferred.
  • Professional certification/registration preferred.
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
