Job Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Millwright Technician will deliver specialized technical support for adhesive and vision systems within the Assembly Maintenance sector, collaborating closely with a team to enhance production efficiency. This role involves executing tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Assembly Department Maintenance Manager, Supervisors, and Team Leaders, while working in conjunction with Assembly Engineers to facilitate various adhesive and vision system operations at Kamtek.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Millwright Technician is accountable for promoting safety, quality, and productivity, ensuring compliance with Kamtek's operational standards and the Magna Employee's Charter. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Adhering to and enforcing all safety protocols and policies within the plant.
  2. Understanding and advocating for Magna's core philosophies, including Operational Principles and the Corporate Constitution.
  3. Complying with all safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  4. Demonstrating proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints, along with troubleshooting and maintaining systems such as Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Pump Systems.
  5. Managing and maintaining adhesive systems effectively.
  6. Implementing the Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) system and adhering to its guidelines.
  7. Utilizing welding equipment including TIG, MIG, and ARC welders, as well as oxygen and acetylene torches.
  8. Operating milling machines and lathes proficiently.
  9. Working independently and making informed decisions regarding maintenance operations.
  10. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  11. Ensuring the operational efficiency of a fully automated mechanical assembly line and related auxiliary equipment, while executing a preventative maintenance program.
  12. Overseeing plant equipment and manufacturing parts as necessary.
  13. Employing various cutting tools and welding equipment for repairs and adjustments.
  14. Disassembling and rebuilding defective equipment, replacing faulty components across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  15. Specializing in the repair of specific manufacturing equipment as required.
  16. Conducting troubleshooting and modifications to enhance equipment uptime and reliability.
  17. Optimizing equipment based on safety, quality, and production needs.
  18. Exhibiting proficiency in MIG welding and layout for steel projects.
  19. Managing inventory of parts, ensuring proper ordering and return of unused components.
  20. Promoting good housekeeping practices (5S).
  21. Performing additional duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

SKILLS:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical theory and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience with electrical testing and troubleshooting tools.
  • General mechanical knowledge with attention to detail.
  • Capability to identify solutions using data and visual inspections.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical proficiency in practical applications.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, frequent bending and stretching, and the capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:

Utilization of basic hand tools, multi-meters, laptops, megohm meters, scales, and thermal imaging cameras is essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with an Associate's degree or equivalent from a technical school, and a minimum of four years of mechanical maintenance experience, or six years of relevant experience. Technical training in automotive adhesive systems and manual welding is preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with weld technology, is necessary, with a minimum of two years preferred.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

Familiarity with motor control, PLCs, ladder logic, and robotic troubleshooting and programming is advantageous.
