Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted leader in Baker Tilly's tax services, providing federal tax compliance and consulting to commercial clients, positively impacting their operations through:
- Establishing strong client relationships and managing day-to-day tax matters for a diverse range of clients, from middle-market to multinational.
- Consulting on technical issues and special projects in various areas, including corporate and flow-through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC740.
- Conducting research on various tax matters, addressing inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities, and providing recommendations for client consideration.
- Coordinating with specialized tax practices on complex tax issues in state and local, high net worth, international, research and development, as well as credits and incentives.
- Overseeing tax-planning responsibilities for federal and individual clients, reviewing intricate tax research related to business transactions across various entities and their affiliates.
- Offering insights for business and process enhancements based on knowledge acquired regarding client operations, processes, and objectives.
- Managing client engagement staffing, billing/collections, and ensuring profitability targets are achieved.
- Utilizing your entrepreneurial skills to network and cultivate strong relationships both internally and externally, aiming to attract new clients, projects, and revenue. Actively engage in proposals to pursue additional clients/services for the firm.
- Collaborate with other service line leaders to develop market positioning, branding, strategy, and messaging for tax services.
- Invest in your professional growth through participation in firm-wide learning and development initiatives.
- Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, assisting associates in achieving their professional aspirations while proactively aiding in recruitment efforts for future team members.
- Exhibit leadership, initiative, teamwork, and high ethical standards.
- Represent the firm at key community events and firm functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required; a Master's or advanced degree is preferred.
- CPA or JD required.
- Proven experience serving clients in the Technology or Real Estate sectors.
- At least eleven (11) years of experience providing federal tax compliance and consulting services in a professional services environment; relevant industry experience is also considered.
- Preferred equity role in a professional services firm.
- A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and coaching associates.
- Demonstrated management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and supervise others, deliver exceptional client service, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning to remain current on applicable strategies while maintaining a focus on both the big picture and details.
- Strong ethical knowledge and commitment, along with a sense of urgency and dedication to quality and timely project completion.
- Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
