Job Title: Adult Crossing Guard

Monitor student behavior at traffic intersections and escort children across the street when coming and going from school. Ensure student safety as they cross.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Escort children safely across the street
  • Monitor traffic flow and signals to ensure safe crossing
  • Stand in the middle of the roadway to halt traffic flow and permit children to pass
  • Work cooperatively with local police department in understanding and administering traffic safety rules
  • Report vehicles not obeying signals as assigned
  • Call for assistance in the event of an accident or emergency situation; assist in first aid when children are injured as assigned
  • Report unruly students to appropriate site personnel
  • Adhere to established safety procedures
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid First Aid Certificate issued by an authorized agency
  • Ability to assist children with safe crossing at an assigned intersection or crosswalk
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work within scope of authority
  • Knowledge of traffic and safety laws and rules
