The University of Miami/UHealth presents an exceptional opportunity for a Vice President of Medical School Operations.The Vice President will report directly to the Dean and will be responsible for a broad spectrum of executive responsibilities and initiatives, including the formulation and execution of strategic plans and objectives pertaining to the operations of the Medical School as a senior executive liaison to faculty and staff.
This role entails overseeing budget operations, capital projects, annual events, and performance metrics aligned with our strategic objectives; collaborating to enhance HR and Finance business processes; forecasting and analyzing various revenue streams, ensuring that the goals of the Medical School are met, and that faculty and staff are supported.
- Provides operational guidance in alignment with the missions and goals of the Miller School of Medicine.
- Manages all administrative functions including business management, human resources, personnel administration, information technology, communications, and facility management.
- Develops comprehensive financial plans, including revenue forecasting and analysis for tuition, gifts, grants, and other funding sources.
- Administers the annual expense operating budget by department/office, program/center, and account, recommending resource allocation.
- Oversees the generation of monthly operational reports, conducts variance analysis, and monitors actuals against projections.
- Leads the development of strategic projections and assesses the fiscal implications of proposals for new initiatives.
- Manages budget operations, resolves complex operational challenges, and provides expert guidance to faculty and staff.
- Coordinates the use of funds in operations, ensuring compliance with terms and facilitating annual audit reviews.
- Facilitates collaboration among key stakeholders to address complex operational challenges and advance strategic priorities in support of Medical School objectives.
- Oversees the development and implementation of operational policies in partnership with the Dean and Senior Cabinet leaders.
- Acts as the AAMC Principal Officer, sending official correspondence on behalf of the Miller School to the LCME and AAMC.
- Exhibits sound judgment and diplomacy when engaging with diverse groups to tackle complex issues.
- Develops and refines the necessary support services required for ongoing success and strategic growth, which may involve workforce planning and team development.
- Directs and manages capital projects and assists with annual events as designated by the Dean.
- Fosters effective partnerships across various groups to facilitate decision-making and ensure implementation.
- Monitors performance metrics in accordance with the strategic plan.
- Ensures oversight of internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding assets, adhering to university policies, and ensuring the reliability of internal and external reporting.

Education:
Master's degree in a relevant field
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, demonstrating a distinguished record of leadership achievements and excellence in administration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:Understanding of business and management principles.
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate departmental operations.
Capacity to establish departmental goals and objectives that align with the strategic plan.
Proficiency in planning, delegating, and supervising the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train personnel.
