Position Overview

The Compensation and Benefits Advisor role at Special Service for Groups, Inc. (SSG) focuses on assisting individuals in navigating the complexities of SSI/SSDI benefits. Reporting directly to the BACUP Director, this position is crucial for ensuring that client records are meticulously maintained and that all activities comply with the standards set forth by LACDMH and SSA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advocate for clients seeking SSI and SSDI benefits at various community locations.
  • Uphold client confidentiality and strictly follow privacy regulations.
  • Organize group sessions and provide support to clients facing benefit-related challenges.
  • Ensure the prompt completion of tasks and gather data for program assessment.
  • Participate in professional gatherings and engage in outreach efforts to strengthen community ties.
Qualifications:
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SSA and LACDMH services.
  • Experience with SSI, SSDI, SDI, and Medi-Cal programs.
  • Competence in PC applications and data analysis.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver License and proof of insurance.
  • Preferred certification in Peer Specialist or Community Worker training.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Personal experience with mental health issues is advantageous.
  • Willingness to share personal insights to inspire clients.
