Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Preparer to join our team at VG CPA PC. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tax Preparation
    • Prepare and file individual, corporate, partnership, and other business tax returns.
    • Ensure accurate and timely submission of tax forms, meeting all deadlines.
    • Analyze financial information and review client documents to determine tax liabilities, deductions, credits, and other tax-related information.
    • Assist clients in gathering necessary documentation and information to complete their returns.
  • Client Consultation
    • Consult with clients to understand their financial situations and provide personalized tax advice.
    • Answer client inquiries regarding tax laws, filing procedures, and potential deductions or credits.
    • Provide guidance on tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
    • Develop strong client relationships and maintain regular communication during the tax preparation process.
  • Compliance and Research
    • Stay updated on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
    • Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide recommendations or solutions to clients and team members.
    • Assist in responding to IRS and state tax authorities regarding tax notices and audits.
  • Recordkeeping and Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of client information and tax documents.
    • Ensure that all documentation is in compliance with the firm's policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and review necessary forms, reports, and tax documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaboration with Team
    • Work closely with CPAs and other team members to ensure efficient tax preparation processes.
    • Assist with special projects and other tasks related to tax planning, compliance, and accounting services.
    • Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and training to stay informed about changes in tax laws and firm procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, preferably in a CPA or tax preparation firm.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Proficiency with tax software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, or ProSeries) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred but not required.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
