Position:
Director of Commerce - Commerce Department (1 FT – Regular)

Overview:

The primary responsibility of this role is to strategize and execute the core functions of the Commerce Department for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.

The key functions include the establishment of Tribal-owned enterprises, the creation of job development initiatives for the Tribe, the management of the Small Business Enterprise program, and the development and upkeep of a comprehensive records management system. This position will involve a diverse range of tasks aimed at maximizing economic opportunities for the Tribe.


Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline, or a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in business development, entrepreneurial growth, and job creation, including expertise in statistical analysis and document management;

- At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in business development, finance, or marketing;

- Active participation in community, statewide, or federal professional organizations within the first year of employment;

- Proficient understanding of accounting and financial statement analysis;

- Experience in business ownership or upper management roles;

- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, along with general computer and office equipment skills;

- Preferred experience in Tribal enterprise development.


Successful candidates will demonstrate superior performance throughout the selection process, which may include pre-employment interviews, skills assessments, credential verification, drug testing, background checks, reference evaluations, and a review of previous work history. Candidates must also pass a pre-employment drug test and background investigation, maintain a valid Driver's License throughout employment, and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.


Compensation:
Pay Grade: E6

Salary Range:
$61,779 - $81,928, commensurate with experience.

Employment Status:
Exempt; Bi-Weekly pay

Background Investigation:
Comprehensive
